Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong developmental disorder that affects all aspects of life, including communication, reciprocal social interactions, play, interests, and behaviour. Our clinicians are well-trained in the assessment and diagnosis of ASD using a multidisciplinary evaluation of multiple areas of the individual’s functioning.
What is Autism Assessment?
The autism assessment process starts with a thorough interview with the parents or the clients themselves (if the client is an adult). The process also involves clinical observation and assessment of autism symptoms using The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) which is considered the “gold standard” in ASD assessments.
The ADOS-2 is a reliable and standardized instrument for the assessment and diagnosis of the core symptoms of Autism in patients of all ages (from 12 months and older). It guides clinicians through the development, implementation, and evaluation of the treatment plan, by helping them identify areas of weakness in social and communication aspects, have a better understanding of the client’s pervasive behaviours, and, hence, develop the treatment plan that works best for them.
