I am a dedicated clinician and researcher with more than 20 years of experience in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry and deep committment to advancing mental health care.
After earning my MD from the American University of Beirut, I went on to train in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and its affiliated hospitals including the Boston VA Healthcare System, Massachusetts General Hospital, and McLean Hospital. I have also received certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychitary and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I have appointments at prestigious academic institutions in Lebanon and the United States, as well as licences to practise in the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and the United States.
I am an elected member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Founding President of the Arab Board of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry committee.
My research focuses on assessing the burden of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents and developing interventions that aim at bridging the treatment gap in this population. My research has been cited by local, regional, and international scholars, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and media outlets.
I have led major projects with international collaborators from Australia, USA, and Lebanon to adapt school-based interventions that aim at improving the mental health of youths. I have received several extramural grants and awards including ones from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, and the Harvard Medical School Center for Global Health Delivery. More recently, I was awarded the prestigious Shoman Foundation Arab Researcher Award in 2022.
My clinical interests include a variety of psychiatric condition including neurodevelopmental disorders (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder.
