At FSHN we offer two types of massage therapy as treatment: sports massage therapy and Thai massage therapy.

Sports Massage Therapy

Massage is a treatment technique that focuses on manipulating the soft tissues of the body by using varying degrees of stimulation and pressures. The therapist may use a combination of movements including kneading, tapping, vibration or deep circular motions to ease muscle tension. A massage can be relaxing or stimulating depending on the speed and depth of the strokes. Massage therapy provides numerous benefits, including:

  • Increased circulation to healing tissues to promote recovery
  • Increased range of motion for injured and stiff joints
  • Relaxation of the nervous system, decreasing stress and muscle tension

Our massage therapists’ may use tools, such as cupping, during the treatment if they think it is appropriate for you. Cupping is an alternative method of manipulating the muscles.

Thai Massage Therapy

Thai massage therapy differs slightly from sport massage therapy in the way in which it is given. It encompasses deep muscle compression, acupressure points, joint mobilisations, as well as active stretching techniques, including pulling and rocking. The aim of Thai massage therapy is to relieve tension and improve muscle and joint flexibility. Some of the benefits of Thai massage therapy can be:

  • Lowered stress levels
  • Boosts in energy
  • Stimulate circulation
